Fluoridated water operates on tooth surfaces: in the mouth, it creates low levels of fluoride in saliva, which reduces the rate at which tooth enamel demineralizes and increases the rate at which it remineralizes in the early stages of cavities. A 1994 World Health Organization expert committee suggested a level of fluoride from 0.5 to 1.0 mg\/L, depending on climate. For this measurement you need 2 vials (#1 and #2); 2 mL of reagent is added in both vials. Deionized water is then added to vial #1 while the sample to be tested is added to vial #2. Both vials are then gently inverted 5 times, and wait 2 minutes.
